Teeth that have received endodontic treatment are able to last as long as your natural teeth, provided they receive appropriate care. However, just because a tooth has received treatment doesn't mean it couldn't fail to heal or completely resolve the issue.
South Jersey Endodontics, PA, offers complete retreatment services whenever endodontic retreatment may be needed.
Curved or narrow canals that were left untreated during the initial treatment
Complicated canals were missed or undetected during the initial treatment
The crown or restoration was not done within the appropriate amount of time after completing the procedure
The crown or restoration was unable to prevent saliva from contaminating the inside of the tooth after the procedure
New decay can also expose root canal filling material and can result in infection
Cracked or otherwise damaged fillings or crowns can expose the tooth to new infection
Once retreatment is determined to be the solution to your problem, the doctors will gain access to the root canal filling material and remove it. Doctors then clean your canals and examine the inside of the tooth. Once cleaned, the doctors fill and seal the tooth again with a temporary filling. You must then return to your dentist as soon as possible to have a new crown or restoration placed on the tooth and restore full functionality.
